Pulseman was one of my favorite rare games to play when I had the SEGA CHANNEL, an old subscription service that you can download and play Genesis games straight to the console. The service was practically a precursor to the Playstation Now and Xbox Game Pass (though there was also a SNES satellite service only in Japan). When I learned it was an import Virtual Console game, I got it immediately and experienced this nostalgia all over again.



Did you know that Pulseman was made by the same company, and the same guys, who did Pokemon, before Pokemon became the thing we all know and love?

Did you know that a handful of stuff in Pokemon was referenced, inspired, or based on this JPN-only Sega Genesis game?

(Volteccer = Volt Tackle; a few music tracks; Team Galactic = Galactic Gang?)

So it would only make sense to have Pulseman train a pokemon that is a lot like him.

Sadly, it could never learn Volt Tackle, but it gets points for trying.
