Cinnamon is hesitant to speak to non-amphimorphos (and are shy even then) due to being treated as an exotic pet. She was pampered, but negatively reinforced to do anything but out of line for a pet until she was dumped outside when she wasn't considered "sophisticated" enough a species as a pet, where Aster found her later on, washing her up and bringing her home after finding she could speak.
