Change of Pace

Flicking his tail left and right in a huff, the fox padded through the streets. A look of irritation was clear on his face, his muzzle contorted into a scowl as the memories replayed in his head with abandon. He sighed, stopping in the middle of the street, turning toward the water fountain and staring at himself in the reflection. The fox stood at seven feet, his fur a bright shade of red and some white from what was visible. Dressed in a simple white t-shirt and shorts, Zev wasn’t the most minds scarring of appearances. He had a simple athletic build which was obvious considering that his short sleeved t-shirt dug into his fur at his biceps, his legs equally well toned. Ears flattened, the fox sighed again, staring at the contraption on his arm.

He was only met with his sullen face as he scowled again, leaving the fountain and going wherever his legs took him. The duel disk signified that he was a duelist, though in his opinion, he was an incredibly average one at best. He won a few, he lost a few, nothing more, nothing less. That was what bothered the living daylights out of him. Normality was something that was too boring for him. How he wished something else could happen in the rut that was his life. As he kept walking, he took out a deck of cards from his back pocket, staring down at the cards. The material slightly worn from constant usage, the cards still shone like new.

“You guys have taken me through everything. Hobby leagues, tourneys, the works. I feel…content with you, though I just wish I could spice it up a bit.” Zev grumbled.

His deck was...perfect. Any additions or changes would only screw the years of combinations and patterns it had carved in his mind. With another sigh, the fox continued down his trek with no destination in mind. Day turned to sunset as the fox had found himself in an unfamiliar part of the city. The buildings and streets cracked and empty, devoid of any signs of life. Brown eyes scanned the area and found nothing, not one indication that could tell him where the hell he was.

“Just freaking great. I ask for some mix up in my life and I get lost. Now how the hell do I get home…”

“Hey, you lost?”

Another voice cut through the fox’s thoughts as the sounds of footsteps made his ears perk. Looking around before determining that the source of the sound was behind him, Zev turned around to see what could be considered a titan. Standing at a towering nine feet, the tiger’s giant fuzzy tail swished to and from eagerly, matching its owner’s bright smile. The tiger wore a simple black tank top with a pair of black shorts to boot, and in Zev’s eyes, a literal tower of muscle. His idly wondered why he even wore clothes at all, seeing as how his muscles bulged against the fabric.

Zev couldn’t help but mindlessly ogle for a moment before the titan snapped his fingers which snapped him out of his staring. His face flushed with red for a moment before returning to its normal shade. “…Sorry about that. And yes…I’m lost.”

The tiger simply smiled widely. Brown eyes met green as the tiger walked forward, putting a paw on the fox’s shoulder. “The name’s Kindle, and how about I help you out? I couldn’t help but overhear you saying you needed some spicing up in your life. I think I can help with that.” The smile never faltered off of his face as he said those words.

Zev looked up at him with an even look, his mind working on over drive. That smile, combined with that cheery tone of voice activated the cynic in him. He simply shrugged off the tiger’s paw, walking away. “Yeah…doubt you can help with that.” He said, beginning to walk away.

“How about a duel then?” Kindle suggested.

The fox turned back at the tiger who pulled out an orange and white duel disk, strapping it on. The fox stared at the machine for a moment, sighing. He was going to regret this…

“Fine.” He turned around, putting his deck into the disk slot and activating it. Kindle followed the same motion, the same eerie smile on his face.

“Before we start, how about a bet? I win, I’ll help with your little problem. You win, I’ll leave you alone once I help you get out of here.” The tiger offered.

Zev raised a brow, blinking rapidly.

“I can tell that you’re going to get lost here, so I might as well help you regardless.” The tiger shrugged his shoulders, pulling out the top five cards from his deck.

Zev’s fur ruffled at the same happy tone he was emitting and pulled out five cards. “Sure, whatever.” The fox agreed to the bet. Boy, was he going to be In for a surprise.

“Duel!”

At 4000 life points, this was going to be a short match. The tiger silently went first, drawing his sixth card. Taking a quick glance at the small cards, he carefully placed two cards down.

“I’ll just set two cards facedown and end my turn. Good luck!” Kindle gave the smaller fox an energetic wave.

Zev snorted, drawing his next card. Brown eyes glared at the two reverse cards. Simply ending his turn like that either meant that he was confident or he just didn’t care. He was willing to bet it was the latter, but the tiger’s infectious smile never faltered from his face. He had to admit, he did look pretty cute. Coughing loudly, the fox resumed his move. Before he could continue, he felt a cold wind sweep through the area. Zev visibly shuddered, Kindle not even batting an eye.

All of a sudden, something, he couldn’t tell what, began making itself known on the ground. Random inscriptions littered around the area soon made themselves known, glowing a bright red. The inscriptions surrounded the two duelists before fading back into the ground.

“What the hell’s going on…” Zev looked around in a panic. Random letters and glowing didn’t just appear randomly. No one had played a card yet, so it couldn’t be the duel disks acting up.

As if on cue, Kindle began giggling, soon turning into full blown laughter. Zev glared at the feline, his fur bristling once more.

“Oh man, I didn’t think he was here. Serves me right for not double checking.” Kindle snickered, rolling his eyes.

“Wait, what do you mean? What’s going on?” Zev asked.

The towering feline simply waved him off.

“It’s nothing. Actually, it’s something, but I’ll keep it a surprise~” The tiger assured, giving Zev a cheeky wince which made the fox’s face flush with pink before he fought it down. Whatever, it was none of his concern. Whatever the freaky tiger had up his sleeve, it didn’t matter for now. His current focus was getting out of here. As the fox planned his move, he never noticed that he or the tiger were being watched. Kindle glanced around the rooftops, his green eyes falling upon a rooftop located behind the fox. He didn’t even have to squint to know who they were. Rolling his eyes, he looked back at Zev who had already done his turn while the feline was distracted. Looking at his field, one card was set down, a monster on the field.

A orc surpassing Kindle’s height and musculature stood on Zev’s field, wielding a giant club. His grey scaled body flexed, bringing his giant club up on his shoulders.

“Giant Orc, do your thing.” Zev said, snarling. He couldn’t believe that the giant oaf hadn’t even paid attention to his turn. Oh well, it was his loss. The orc’s legs bulged as he charged, closing the distance between himself and the feline. As the seconds ticked by, Kindle stared at his two facedown cards.

“Hmm…take the damage or no…eh, what the hell.” He shrugged his shoulders. The orc was soon on top of him, ready to swing his gigantic club down. With an amazing amount of force and power, the club soon swung down on Kindle’s head. A deafening smash was heard as the feline’s life points dropped steadily from an average 4000 to 1800.

A low growl was heard before the Giant Orc looked down at his owner’s opponent. Normally any opponent would have been pushed back from the blow, but the feline was still standing and…holding his club!? Zev and the orc stared dumbfounded as Kindle stood tall, an arm stretched out and holding the orc’s club with no problem. Solid Vision or otherwise, he should have been pushed back! Solid Vision was meant to replicate the pain of the attack to the lowest denomination, the physical side of the monster matching its actual weight. Giant Orc weight a monstrous amount, so how the hell was this happening?

Kindle simply pushed forward, the orc sliding back to Zev’s side of the field and kneeling to defense mode.

“W-what?” Zev stuttered as his orc was pushed back like nothing. Staring back at the tiger, he noticed that he was glowing a dull red. He was officially freaked out. The fox simply stared on as Kindle doubled over, panting heavily as his body throbbed. Bones broke and repaired themselves constantly as he soon began getting taller at a slow pace. As the height stacked on, so did his muscle mass. The already massive feline swelled, biceps bulging, chest puffing out. His tank top began tearing at the chest, revealing two slabs of swelling meat that was his chest. Despite the amount of fur that the tiger possessed, the muscle definition was clear as veins pushed against his fur. Straining against his bulging chest, the tank top soon ripped to shreds, making the tiger effectively shirtless.

Low purrs were heard as Kindle soon got up as if nothing happened, picking up his cards along the process and treating them delicately. At 13 feet, the feline’s shorts strained against his tree trunk legs, ready to rip at the slightest flex. The fact that they were still holding was nothing short of a miracle at work. Zev stared at the muscle bound tiger who held the same damnable smile.

“Surprise!” he cried out.

“S-surprise!?” A few seconds after, Zev soon found the courage to talk after what he’d just witnessed. He had to rub his eyes to make sure he wasn’t seeing things. Did the guy actually grow, or were his eyes playing tricks on him? Still smiling, Kindle laughed at the fox’s confusion.

“Yeah, that was the glowy stuff you saw before.” He said, scratching the back of his head. “I planned on this being a normal duel, but it seems like a certain dragon I know decided to up the ante.” Kindle shrugged his massive shoulders, shuffling around a bit uncomfortably. Deciding that his shorts were beyond saving, he simply gave his legs a flex, the fabric tearing apart and revealing a large black speedo which left nothing to the imagination, a large bulge taking up most of the stretchy one piece.

Zev blinked slowly, a line of drool coming from his mouth.

A cocky smirk lined the tiger’s face as he gave a double bicep flex, the muscle pushing against the fur and swelling. Zev couldn’t help but let a small moan slip out before he caught himself and coughed loudly, catching the tiger’s attention.

“Heh, sorry about that. I couldn’t help it, you looked so mesmerized.” Kindle apologized, smiling once more.

Zev just stared, his free hand moving toward his duel disk. This couldn’t be happening, it just couldn’t. His mind couldn’t process the events happening in front of him, so he was doing the only thing he could; surrendering the match.

Before he could continue, The gigantic feline snarled loudly, garnering the fox’s attention before returning to his cheerful demeanor. “Are you really going to quit? Something interesting happens that’s probably never going to happen again occurs and you’re just going to up and quit? Forgive me for being blunt, but I find that dumb.” The tiger huffed. “I can’t stop you from quitting, but at the very least, think it over.”

“….” Zev remained silent, his hand over his duel disk. As much as he hated to admit it, the muscle bound tiger had a point. He pulled his hand back, sighing.

“I end my turn.”

“That’s the spirit!” The tiger cheered. He’d gotten to him! Now, to continue on and give him a taste of the fun. Drawing a new card, the tiger’s eyes squinted as he looked his current hand. Carefully plucking one, he went on with his turn. Giant Orc had no defense points and a staggering 2200 attack points. The solution was obvious.

“I’ll summon King Tiger Wanghu to the field.”

A quadruped, armored tiger soon rose to the field, skulking around, its armor clanging loudly.

“Next, Fairy Meteor Crush.”

Crap, Zev thought. Looking down at his face down cards, he contemplated destroying it. He had a lot of options, but one that was overpowering his current mindset was taking the damage and experiencing what the tiger had gone through. He’d be lying if he hadn’t thought about it. Before he could even continue thinking, Kindle’s monster had already torn through Giant Orc and soon made his way toward him. The tiger snarled, baring his fangs before a portal opened up above the tiger. A pink, glowing meteor tore through, slamming Zev right in the stomach and pushing him back a few inches before it disappeared, Wanghu returning to his owner’s field.

Zev’s life points dropped from 4000 to 2300, and with that, something completely overtook him. The fox doubled over as pain racked through his body. Panting loudly, the fox tried to block it out, but It was impossible. He could literally feel the pain from that hit. Zev soon began glowing with the same dull red aura that had surrounded the tiger.

Zev swelled, his height increasing as his swimmer like build packed on muscle at a quickening rate. His normally comfortable shirt soon felt constricted, as did his shorts. His entire body throbbed constantly, the fox’s pants beginning to stretch as his legs bulked up, as did his entire body. The makings of a shelf like chest soon made itself known as his white t-shirt began ripping. His arms began filling out, his baseball sized biceps swelling up and breaking the sleeves. As the seconds ticked by, Kindle and his little entourage watched the scene avidly.

Behind the fox, a rooftop held a few other figures that had been watching the duel from the beginning. A bright red dragon with ebony black locks stood at eight feet with a bulky swimmer’s build smiled at the results of his “little” interruption. Beside him, a wolf standing at 12 feet and shaming even Kindle’s current build just grumbled childishly, his arms crossed over his gigantic chest. Adjusting his glasses, he let out another grumble. Why did Kindle have to have all the fun? Yes, he was big, but he loved getting bigger and this was the perfect opportunity, but the tiger had to ruin his chance.

Sensing his ire, someone put a hand on his massive back, rubbing it slowly in some attempt to soothe the wolf.

“Calm down, you’ll get your fun soon enough, Achilles.”

A navy scaled dragon standing taller than the red dragon stood behind the massive wolf with a smirk on his face. Flexing his wings for a moment, he stared back towards his scaled companion who was still admiring his work.

“Drago, stop looking so smug.”

“Why shouldn’t I? This wouldn’t have happened if I hadn’t interfered. Besides, we got a new guy out of it.” Dragonien smiled, not even bothering to glance back at the other dragon.

Azure simply rolled his eyes.

“Who says he’ll even agree?”

An idea came to the red dragon. Turning around and facing the two, he pointed a thumb toward Achilles.

“If I’m right, we’ll have a bit of extra fun in our next duel. If not, you get to decide what we do.” Dragonien smiled.

Azure weighed the options and soon began snickering. “Either way, it looks like you get the best option.”

“Wasn’t that obvious? Now, let’s see who’s right.” The white dragon huffed as the three soon put their attention back to the duel.

Zev had long grown past the limitations of his shirt, the fabric lying on the ground ripped, his white furred torso bulging dramatically as he sat on his rump, panting a bit. He soon stood up and observed him, Kindle taking a good look as well. He hadn’t grown as much as the tiger, but it was still something. Zev was the equivalent of a heavy set bodybuilder, standing at 10 feet. The fox marveled at himself and did an experimental flex of his arms, then his chest and so on. Power flowed through his body and he had to admit, he loved it. Picking up his cards, the muscle bound fox looked at Kindle with a smile, the feline returning the smirk.

“So…wanna continue the duel?” Zev asked eagerly.

“By all means!”

Now then, let's kick off my first submission with a piece I'm rather proud of. A duelist under the name of Zev feels average. He doesn't feel like he can improve, nor does he feel he's lacking in his skills. Wishing for something to change, he's soon confronted by a rather muscular tiger and things take a turn.

All characters depicted in this story belong to their rightful owners, as does the card game used in this story (YGO). The writing is all me, baby.
