Dream character. I was in a dark, moonlit forest and came upon a black cube atop a boulder jutting out of the earth. When I picked it up, it floated up and unfolded into the flat angular object. A large, single eye opened on its surface and then I noticed it had a body standing in front of me.

Then I realized the forest was full of many of them. All with their eyes on me.
