Waiting for the Subway, Alone by The Green Herring

Waiting for the Subway, Alone

The Green Herring

You've taken the subway your whole adult life. There's just no replacement for the subway, the vibrations as it races along... Sometimes, though, the line you use is closed for maintenance, so you have to use the other line, the one barely anyone needs, a long-dead politico's pet project that held up an important law until it was approved for construction. Sometimes you see people here, but most of the time, your only company's the fantasy woman on the ad poster. It's relaxing in its own way, imagining yourself as her, almighty and uncompromising about who she is, even if you've already become her in your own way.

One fateful day, I asked a friend about a type of character I should draw, and over the course of two days, what started as a simple character drawing in ANSI art turned into an experiment in drawing a character existing in a setting under the limits of the code page 437 character set, a VGA 16-color text mode and an 80×25-character picture size. I'm proud of how this turned out and I hope you enjoy this as well. :)

Drawn from July 26-27, 2023.
