Besides customizing, I also restore sadder ponies. This DAD was bought at a local game store from the owner's wife's personal collection. I've never owned a boy before, so I was excited to get him. I was also surprised to find his symbol and eyes in perfect condition, considering the rest of him was such a mess.

Before:

He was dirty. There were a few layers of dirt I had to get through before finding him almost perfectly white. His mane and tail, his tail moreso, were dry, but unfaded. His Clydesdale "fur" had dirt ground into it.

After:

Clean, clean, clean! Aaah, he's so handsome!

Process:

His scrubbings started with a quick toothbrush bath with water and Aveeno for Babies (hijacked from my friend's two-y/o, lol). The Aveeno took off most of the grime from his face, and a layer of dirt from his hooves. Yes, that before shot of his hooves is AFTER the Aveeno, just imagine. Then I stuck him in the back window of my car with a couple of headless sisters for a few weeks, which got him closer to white. He got a few more scrubbing with Garnier Fructis Colorshield Shampoo when the sunfading plateaued. Shampoo, you read that correctly. Then I took his tail out of the braid and washed it with the same shampoo. Imagine my surprise when the shampoo turned out to be apple-scented.

dohohohoho.

Anyways, while the shampoo sat in his tail, I combed through it with my broken rat-tail comb to get it straight. After I rinsed it, I wrapped it in some paper towels, laid him on his side, and put some heavy things on top. Yaye! Nice and straight and delicious. I didn't do his mane because it wasn't in nearly as bad a condition as the tail. Scrubbed a bit of acetone on his mouth to get rid of some brown spots, and he was finished!!

A simple restoration like this wouldn't cost more than $10 if you're interested in having your ponies restored!
