I've been meaning to do some studies of the local plants, so I cut a small piece off of a huge nightshade vine to bring home for painting. We also took some photos of some very pretty tropical plants at the botanical garden last weekend, hopefully enough of them turn out well enough to be of use for painting references.
Watercolor, white ink, white gel pen and graphite on Arches WC paper. As usual the original looks much nicer than the scan, lots of subtle shading and texture gets washed out or over contrasted when I scan, and there's only so much I've been able to do in photoshop. I'll try to clean it up some more for when I do prints, but this is my third try so I'm done for now. Maybe I need to play with the scanner settings.
