I haven't been able to make it out to enough local shows, but they did OK at a con I went to last year, it was sort of a stingy crowd that year though. I do think jewelry sells better when you can see it in person for sure, I just need to find more ways to get it out a little.
I hope you are able - I truly think these are very marketable. I know a local festival we have here in summer where they would sell well - but the sells wouldn't offset the travel costs :( Have you done any gallery shows?
We have so many little festivals and stuff in my home town I could probably sell at, once I move back I'm hoping to get into doing more of them and seeing how it goes. It's kind of a tourist trap so I'll have to find out if the buyers are worth the inflated booth prices at a lot of them. We have some small ones but I swear I never find out about them until it's too late to enter. Once I'm back I'm going to put together a calendar or something so I can keep track.
I participated in a small gallery show last winter. I had a few paintings up with some other local artists at an opera house, there were some small advertisements for it, and we had an opening night with food and wine that a few people went to, but after that I don't think it got a lot of attention, and I don't know if anyone sold much of anything. I haven't done much with showing off the jewelry though, outside of cons, though I'd like to find something.
