Vauld inhabits the same world as my dragon lady, Arklai.
It's a low-ish fantasy/barbaric world, where most sentient characters are anthropomorphic variations of mythical creatures. Magic is rare and many societies fear it. In Vauld's society, if you control magic you are considered dangerous. In the BEST case you are imprisoned, taught strict control and maybe you'll get to live your life out in solitude. Only the most disciplined of these mages may roam freely, but must hide their face under a mask and don ritual scarring so that everyone knows they are a mage. Vauld uses sickle that has absorbed a massive amount of his magic since he was a child. It can be used no only as a melee weapon, but as a focus for his spells. He seeks the ashes of his land's previous king, which are lost in lands far to the west. If he does this, he may be granted the right to have his magic exorcised, so that he may return to a semblance of "normal" life.
