A ref sheet sort of for an original species and a character to go with it named Otuu.

These guys popped into my head today as a species so I ended up calling them Celestials, and they're creatures that are physical embodiments of stars. They exist in a universe where galaxies are like huge flowers and all the stars that orbit them are smaller seeds that take millions of years to mature and orbit off into their own galaxies.

Some stars end up going supernova and some become black holes, others become white dwarfs or red dwarfs, some have complicated relationships with other stars - like how some stars orbit each other with the larger one gradually absorbing the smaller one, in this universe the larger stars have sway over the smaller ones for one reason or another.

They have humanoid forms depending on the situation, and they adapt animal shapes as a defensive mechanism - thus predatory animal shapes are the most common among them, with herbivore shapes being very rare and odd. Which is ironic considering they do bear resemblance to plant-based life forms, with their "wings" often resembling leaf patterns and the bulbs on their backs that shine with their energy. Stars sleep on their own schedules and only open their bulbs to "shine" when they have a reason to expel energy. Stars with solar systems and planets to mine have more specific schedules planned out for them. It's from planets with life forms that the stars adapted predatory defense forms, some for preference and some assigned to them at birth, which is why some are feline and some are canine and some are totally alien. Like actual plants, though, the celestials are hermaphrodites.

Galaxies exist in conflict as something like large kingdoms, and stars mine resources from the planets they have domain over. Stars with planet systems are like small governors and such and are the important ones; then you have ones like Otuu who really only exist to serve the mother galaxy flower as it sees fit.

Otuu here was given as reward to a soldier blue star Natak who went to war with a competing galaxy that lost too many of its own stars to supernova and started trying to recruit from theirs. Natak was a military star given domain over a solar system designed to mine minerals for weaponry and sent with a legion of other stars to kill off the rivals, weakening the other galaxy until it died completely. When she returned, though, her solar system had died, which she was pissed off about. So as compensation she was awarded with Otuu to do whatever she wants with.
