In a world of shapeshifting creatures, a curious question arises - what would occur if an individual were to sleep-shift?

The answer is perhaps one of the most horrifying processes in this alien world. Commonly known as a 'Waking Nightmare', a sleeping shifter with this disorder will start to change and model its image subconsciously after objects seen in dreams during sleep. Shifters are known to have similar sleeping patterns to humans regardless of current morphology, even if mimicking another species. Shifters may wake up afterwards with no recollection of their night’s destruction, and in rare cases, become conscious whilst sleep-shifting yet remain unable to control their movement.
