Athus Plush

A few nights later after making sure Narse and Sarmy were ok, I worked through my grief by creating this plushie in memory of Athus. I sat in my "sewing corner" for seven hours straight listening to somber music (mostly Mike Oldfield and the soundtrack to Dune).

On Sunday, I gave it to his mom as something to remember him by, and she gave me the longest hug I think I've ever received.

Do not stand at my grave and weep,

I am not there; I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow,

I am the diamond glints on snow,

I am the sun on ripened grain,

I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning’s hush

I am the swift uplifting rush

Of quiet birds in circling flight.

I am the soft starlight at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry,

I am not there; I did not die.

As I finished the plush, I held it up in midair for his approval, and I swear could see big goofy smile and hear his laugh.
