New album: Encyclopedia Draconica (2024)

tapewolf

It's new album time again!

With many thanks yet again to :iconthekc: for drawing the cover, here's my 20th album, 'Encyclopedia Draconica'. This is a collection of 6 tracks, mostly about dragons this time. The cover illustrates the track "Modern Day Dragon", which explores how dragons might live in the modern era, or at least the 1980s.

  1. Do You Want To Be A Dragon? - prog rock song about a very confused dragonslayer
  2. Modern Day Dragon - A very 80s track about dragons in the modern age, which gently pokes its tongue at Tom Sawyer by Rush
  3. The Dark Bible - Lovecraftian horror, I'm particularly pleased with the pipe organ parts on this one

  4. Evil Dragon - Heavy prog-rock about a rogue dragon terrorising a city, with narration in the style of Bal-Sagoth

  5. Black Dragons Skulk around The Other Mountain of Shadows - short instrumental in the style of Bal-Sagoth, I think the cool kids call this Dungeon Synth

  6. Dragon King - Epic progressive rock to close the album, and continues the story of the Evil Dragon. I particularly like how the backwards section turned out

The album can be downloaded for free from my ugly website here: https://dougtheeagle.com/draconica.php
Or purchased on Bandcamp here if you really enjoy it: https://dougtheeagle.bandcamp.com/album/encyclopedia-draconica

Additional thanks go out to sofox for helping with the lyrics on "Dragon King", and the usual gang of Merlin, Ren and co. for their support!
