As a Patreon reward, I get a sketch of a character bust every month. This time I figured I'd ask for the airplane dragon adopt I recently bought from Symrea. As usual, I have coloured the sketch, albeit using Ahro's white pencil highlights to provide most of the lighting.

In this instance things were a bit harder because I had to decide which parts of the creature were fur and which were metal and the distinction isn't always clear. The wings, engines and visor are obvious, the ears were a bit harder, though it seems to be a convention that they resemble tail-fins or flaps, hence metal. The biggest question was whether the nose should be polished like a nosecone or treated as if it was fur. At Sofox' suggestion I made the nose itself shiny and the lower jaw more furlike.

This guy is overdue for a name, but I think Jake works, notwithstanding that that's the name of the reviled evil god in Merlin's LaRaGa series of comics.
