In my comics, and even in a game project I've been working on intermittently, military and similar installations are patrolled by intelligent robotic jaguars known as cyberjags.
Something which I only recently pondered was how they were kept clean and shiny, given that they can't groom themselves like a real cat, and don't have hands. However, a purpose-built mini car-wash would do the job perfectly. So I commissioned TheKC to draw it, and they did a fantastic job!

So here we have Gamma, codename Y-RAY, looking very pleased with himself after a wash and polish job. (Incidentally, his brother is called X-RAY and they're known as the Ray Twins).
While it's in Jayhawk's interest for the panthers to look fairly uniform, they don't want to squash individuality either, so the panthers are allowed to express themselves by choosing their claw colours if they want.
In principle they could get a full body respray, but in practice you don't really want to leave a decision like that to a 5-year old who hasn't naturally evolved colour vision. Whereas if they want to make their claws some hideous shade of neon it's a bit more discreet.
