Here's a blow-up of Xerian page 04.06. I worked long and hard on this page and not all the detail is visible in the comic version so here's a higher-res version without the captions.

In this page, Ms. Strauss is telling Xerian how violent and nasty their world is. I suggested having some illustratory panels of an execution scene, and a modern day court passing a death sentence.
I left the actual details to Merlin and when the draft came back, it had a scene based on our earlier comic "The Axeman Cometh", and also a scene from a future story Merlin has occasionally talked about where their character Sierra goes off the rails and is sentenced to beheading by King Fairwater (with the words "This is canon" on the sketch). I like Sierra so this was a hard page to colour. One day this story will hopefully be told and we'll find out his fate, for good or for ill.

Fun fact: In the layout I originally suggested 'A modern court with Daryil presiding grimly'. One day I'll be able to use the line "The Lord Daryil has commanded your death" but apparently not this time

On a happier note, we're starting to beef up Xerian's arm design a little after :iconTheKC: did a stellar job with the biceps on this: ( https://www.furaffinity.net/view/44564970/ ) ...and it was a long-overdue reminder that Xerian's skin is supposed to be a bit flexible and rubbery whereas we've tended to draw it like armour instead.
