Time for another collaboration with : This is Kamdan, a jaguar adventurer. He appeared for a few pages in the comic during a flashback in the party arc. ( See http://projectfuturecomic.com/strip.php?strip=252 )

You may wonder why Kamdan, in a profession where people live fast and die young, is dressed fairly scantily. There is a good reason for this - he's actually a Demon in disguise, and able to harden his skin tougher than most forms of armour. Earlier in his career this deception was born of necessity since Demons are often the ones being killed by adventurers, and even later on it was still helpful since the people being rescued or aided might not understand his intentions.

A large part of Demon culture is based around proving how badass you are. Most Demons express this by slaughtering and killing others, which is one of the things propping up the adventuring business in the first place. Kamdan is also like this to a degree, but rather than murdering Beings, he sees adventuring as a useful way to fulfil his social and biological obligations.

Killing other Demons is significantly more badass than killing ordinary mortals, and bounty-hunting also provides a ready source of meat, since in many cases he only has to bring back the target's head in order to get paid. The body can be disposed of as he sees fit, and Demons need to eat a lot and do so regularly in order to keep their metabolism going.
Kamdan has also realised that it's not necessary to kill people to prove that he's better than them - beating the crap out of them and letting them go again also means that they'll be able to tell others how badly they were thrashed and thus spread his reputation.

To summarise, Kamdan isn't a bad guy. He is a Demon and so his moral outlook is a bit different to others. Nonetheless, with the adventuring career allowing him to act as a bounty hunter and occasional executioner, he has found a niche which allows him to put his talents to use for the benefit of others, while still meeting his Demonic obligations, if not necessarily in spirit. After Werrew became King he made Kamdan his second in command.
