Dinner of Three by Swish

Dinner of Three

Swish

This is another cheetah I personally know from South Africa. She's actually partly disabled IRL and cannot run full speed. She does have a peculiar habit of sitting back on her hind legs to get a better view of things, and loves rides in the car. This is how I'm imagining her dreaming, all happy about some unsuspecting dinner morsels, almost winking back at the camera.

This was a first attempt with a different method of rendering fur. Yes! The spots do have longer fur than the surrounding fur on some parts of a cheetah, especially where the longer scruff used to be.

I sized this one to be a desktop background if anyone is interested. This is also the first picture where I started signing it with my more regularly-known pseudonym and discarded the Sütterlinschrift.

Ah! So glad to have found that you have a weasyl, or any art account. I just see you on reddit (I'm MidwayCJ there, though I should get a new one since I don't really do youtube anymore, and that was my Youtube name).

I love hearing more about this piece, I'm not sure I read or saw you writing about knowing the animal on reddit. I love knowing more of the history of pictures, and painting animals you know. There's a black bear sow that I never got to meet, but I've only seen in a picture that's had a profound affect on me and I look forward to putting her down on a digital canvas.

I really look forward to seeing more of your progression with your painting and following you on here, that way I won't accidentally miss anything on reddit. I forgot it exists sometimes.

Hi CJ! I'm really glad these descriptions are having some sort of effect. I make an effort to explain my thought process, especially for myself later on. I have a feeling if I'll be doing hundreds or thousands of paintings in the future, I better be prudent in explaining my intents.

It's amazing the effects animals can have on us. I love seeing them take shape on canvas, that point where something very recognizable is staring back at you.
