Shreshaw Reclamation Government AR2-03 Assault Rifle

Svaros

The remnants of the Samensha Republic were fortunate that the city of Shreshaw, the one last major city that managed to escape the cataclysm, was once a thriving coastal city that was an export for steel products onto the Garm Ocean, Arazi's deep but only ocean. With unexpected fortuitousness, the last significant arsenal of the Samesha Republic was located there. With exceptionally high amounts of labor coming from refugees and to avoid a compounding civil war, the government quickly put these refugees to work anywhere they could.

With this need to rapidly reassert law and order and provide some means of economic security dominance, citizens were drafted into the remnants of the State Guard to enforce the declared martial law. To arm these recruits, they needed a new weapon that could be quickly mass-produced by factory workers unfamiliar with processes and requiring only simple assembly.

Surviving engineers looked at their existing rifles and set to work on eliminating as many parts as possible. They deleted the bimetallic locking mechanism after realizing it was just a complication. They simplified the sighting system, reducing the folding stock from four to three parts. The simplification process pushed innovations in casting parts, greatly enhancing production times and lowering costs.

The result was a 5.2x41mm assault rifle with a folding stock and adjustable foregrip. Tolesian analysis of the gun post-first contact found it well capable and easy to handle, with varying degrees of severity regarding issues of fit and finish caused by lax quality control standards. A report indicated that experienced personnel were moved into more sensitive areas of the production line to ensure that those parts vital to the weapon's operation were up to standards before letting the inexperienced do the final assembly. Tolesian engineers noted that this created issues with every weapon frame being unique and replacement parts needing to be customized to some degree to fit. However, they stressed this could be done in the field with easily acquired hand tools such as hammers, wrenches, saws, and rasps.
