Norris Garden City by stridentweasel

Norris Garden City

stridentweasel

I visited Norris, Tennessee with a friend two years ago. Norris was planned in the 1930s according to Garden City principles. Pedestrian underpasses, such as this one, were sometimes a feature of Garden City planning. You can find this feature in Radburn, New Jersey, for instance, but the idea actually goes back to Central Park.

This is the first painting I've done in years, and I referenced a photograph that I took (https://www.flickr.com/photos/94235698@N03/14694296325/). It's acrylic on canvas board.
