We haven't seen the tiger in a while, but he's still out there with his little harem of human ladies, and from time to time a tiger hunter or aggressive fellow tiger shows up.

The result is the same: when you're an unnaturally smart cat (that the locals believe, probably rightly, is some sort of spirit or minor god) the difference between a human and a fellow tiger is largely one of their caloric content.

This hunter will just be another that went to an otherwise unremarkable village in colonial India and didn't come back. People disappeared all the time back then, just not, as will be in this case, down a tiger's throat.
