Vast Landscape of Kittypaw (critique requested)

Startide

That's SciTiv on my heel, enjoying the view. :3

Going to try uploading a few of my own drawings here as an experiment. The rekatively decent ones anyway. Most are kinda low quality XD. I'm playing around with settings too. The folder my own stuff will go in is set to not post to the main homepage, just to followers. Also, critique is totally welcome.

Hey that looks pretty good for a first time. :3
I can also see press-throughs of a toucan with a hat and Mario try-outs, neat!. X3

I guess a little tip I could give is by starting to sketch/build characters and environments using help-lines and shapes (like what Stan Lee used to do in the past with anathomical stick figures: http://40.media.tumblr.com/6b571b27e0f8814d30e9a0417d5ddc39/tumblr_mw9eilJsnm1rom810o3_1280.jpg and https://americanheritagecenter.files.wordpress.com/2013/10/8302_57_11b.jpg ). That way you have some direction as to what you're trying to put on paper and you don't have to 'guess-which-direction-the-line-should-go-now' too much since you have your own reference to draw from. Drawing is partially a measuring process after all. I'd also reccommend searching for some (basic) perspective tutorials like: http://www.dsource.in/course/product-drawing/perspective/images/800/perspective-6.jpg for example, once you've got that down I'd say experiment with light and shadows.

Lastly but most importantly I'd reccommend looking into composition techniques, one great video on that is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O8i7OKbWmRM (It's directed towards CG but applies to nearly all visual mediums)
And don't worry about your style too much, tastes tend to differ and everyone is developing their own style as shown in this video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M-wfX0AU3ls That's not saying it's bad to experiment, after all it's called: developing your style, thus broadening your horizons and of course it's better to try pushing your skills as far as they can go.

Welp, this comment was longer than I had anticipated but I hope that it was helpful to you or at the very least insightful. ^_^
Nevertheless, keep up the good work. ;3

Thank you for the advice and the links. I actually drew a bunch over the past few days, this was just the one I figured was best. Hopefully, once I've got the wacom tablet I ordered last night, being able to work with layers and undo will help with doing help lines without making mess

No problem, I always love to help out. ;3
And yes, working digitally saves a lot of frustration in the end, I've had drawings I did in the past that were ruined because the ink of my fineliners would bleed through, now it's just cutting a part inside a layer and everything is fixed. =P
