Mortis [Death] and Vita [Life]
Rez [Prosperity] and Spaz [Charity]
____ [Justice] and ____ [Desire]

Anima flows through all things and comprises the fundamental reality we live in. All things are woven from the raw energies of creation propagated from sapient beings. The universe is a dream we all happen to share.
Mortem and Vita were born from the creation of the planet of Whipvine. Mortis, the god of death, and Vita the god of life. Neither one defines the moral structure of the world, nor the power to control the laws of life and death, only to influence them. They have a tense, complicated relationship; as Vita maintains life while Mortem shepherds mortals unto eternity and maintains the cycle of rebirth.
While the two deities are personified, there are numerous spirits and other gods that inhabit this world. The world of Whipvine itself has numerous precursor civilizations brought low by apocalyptic disasters and crises that led to mass destruction. These precursors left behind ruins, infrastructure, and relics that were resettled or collected by the errant nations living in the semi-dark age of the planet.

Spaz is a god of charity, born from the concept upon the creation of the world they inhabit. Spaz establishes charity and compassion by reaching out into the minds and dreams of people to inspire cooperation with their neighbors and countrymen. It is Spaz's duty to both eliminate corruption in general and follow in Rez's wake and ensure that the prosperity he brings itself becomes a productive force in society.
Rez is a god of commerce, born from the concept upon the creation of the world they inhabit. Rez supports the growth of industry and the spread of commerce by inspiring industrialists, designers, inventors, traders, and administrators and honing their minds to great levels of efficiency. Rez's duty is to the growth of wealth and as such, Rez spends the greatest amount of time venturing to places of poverty and deprivation to elevate societies.
The two brothers work in conjunction, juxtaposed but inexorably linked together in mutual reliance and counterbalance.
Ambition must be tempered by generocity and compassion else mammon greed and corruption will lead prosperity to only cause ruin. It is because of Spaz and Rez that Whipvine has mostly recovered and survived its apocalypse that threatened to destroy it and how nations are able to maintain the strength to resist the existential threat presented by insectoids, mechanoids, and offworld threats.
Rez is their counterpart, the two share a very close bond with one another with their duties. While Rez brings commerce and creates prosperity, it falls to Spaz to ensure it reaches the right hands and to staunch the spread of mammon greed so that the benefits of prosperity are felt.

Followers of the Path of Anima, Spiritists, are astropolitan animists that revere the anima of the world and pay respects to Mortem, Vita, and numerous other minor gods who do not seek power or might, but rather intend to play their role in the cycle of Animist energies in the world. The followers of the Path of Anima are not the only ones to revere Mortem and Vita, who are observed in countless ideoligions across the planet. However, it is Spiritists who revere the cycle of Anima and the gods that maintain them.
Culturally, the Path of Anima followers revere nature, healthcare, and culture. They disapprove of violence but do not hesitate to take to arms in conflicts they deem necessary. People hold high spirits and enjoy life when they can, celebrating life even in death and taking solace knowing they will all be reunited one day. They love recreation and take great care to record their experiences and knowledge, exalting writing and documentation. However, what stands out is their use of dronification. The guilty or the voluntary may be dronified and serve society. In a world frought with banditry and upstart newborn gods leading their minor nations to conquest, there is no shortage of the guilty.
The ideoligion of the Path of Anima has numerous specialists related to healthcare. The nurses or ‘Clinicians’, the moral guides or ‘Scholars’, and the medical specialists or ‘Clinicists’, work in the clinics and hospitals of Spiritist nations. Rather than celebrating individual birthdays, continued life itself is celebrated on the yearly Life’s Advent, wherein Spiritists revere Vita and celebrate in Advent Parks that are decorated and themed after the holiday year-round. Additionally, Spiritists will hold Wild Fairs with skylanterns occasionally to mark important events or milestones. On death, Spiritists hold a crematory requiem, giving thanks to Mortem for maintaining the cycle and guiding souls to reside within’ the unconscious noosphere of sapient beings.
Spiritists revere the Anima Codex, an ever-updating and curated textbook of critical information on Anima which holds key foundational knowledge of the nature of the cycle. Copies of the Anima Codex are circulated and the information is updated by Spiritst scholars in their studies. They also hold a circular symbol known as the anifocus as an important symbol of the cycle. The anifocus symbol can be seen on numerous anima cycle gods’ collars such as Mortem and Vita. The anifocus will often be found engraved on walls or melded into silver jewelry and worn by Spiritists. Spiritist service members will even attach a charm in the shape of an anifocus to their weapons to aid their spirits in battle.
There are numerous Spiritists across the planet. While they comprise the largest system of belief, they are so spread out that they are a minority in virtually every nation. There are exceptions; they lead in numerous minor nations with the Republic of the Winter being the only powerful majority Spiritist nation.
