Phoenix for Flint by stablercake

Phoenix for Flint

stablercake

In February, I live painted for an event in Flint, MI and came out with this Phoenix. It's a bit of a hopeful piece as the issues are not resolved and the phoenix of Flint has yet to rise.

I took a trip to Flint just before that to deliver water to organizations that were taking them. I live in Indianapolis so it was quite a drive and long story short it was a heartbreaking realization once we got there that 2 large cargo vans of donated water was not very much at all. An event was organized a week later to help collect water and money for the ailing community and after donating some of my work to auction, I was requested to paint during the benefit concert. This piece is 18x24, acrylic on canvas.

I know I don't usually talk much or very seriously in these blurbs, so sorry about that. However, if you haven't yet, think about giving a few bucks to the United Way of Genessee County that Flint resides in, they could really use the help.
