Since Renda ended Wintersday in no shape to go back to soldiering, a new position had to be found for her, and nothing seemed more suitable than having her serve as a disposal method for all that leftover holiday food, especially all the really big novelty candy canes that everyone just assumed were decorative.

I suppose this counts as her superiors being sympathetic... in a way? I mean, she gets to eat all the Wintersday treats she wants! And then a whole lot more she doesn't!
