Sigh...I normally avoid politics like the plauge, but in light of recent events...well, this is as much a personal therapy execise as it is a rant. So, be warned, political opinions ahead.

Honestly...this drawing pretty much sums up my opininon of modern political climate. People beating the crap out of each other and are astoundingly bewildered as to why things seem to be getting worse. Before I continue, let me clarify two things: I am black and I consider myself liberal. The fact that I had to say these things in order to avoid my point being dismissed outright is one of the main sources of my frustration. We seem to be acting in the most childish, antagonistic manners in all aspects of politics; hypocritically painting our opponents in the broadest, most stereotypical black and white strokes while demanding they see us in nuanced greys. Both sides are unwilling to be completely honest about their roles in perpetuating the hostility; no one is an angel 24/7, and a problem will never be fixed until everyone is honest. I suppose you wonder if I have a point. Well, as I said, this is mostly an exercise in catharsis, published so perhaps others can share said emotional purging or perhaps to attract some like minds. I suppose the worst part about all this is the seemingly helpless feeling of wanting to "fix it" but feeling overwhelmed. The only solution I can come up with is the old tride and true "be the example of the change".
