A Most Curious Tale

slugbones

Hello! It's been a while, but I've decided to start uploading again. I'm in the process of trying to figure out exactly which of my online galleries I want to consistently maintain, and what I want to post where. Just ignore me.

This is a commissioned digital painting for sevendevils sevendevils. This is the first of this style I've done as a commission, and it was something of a special case, because Sevendevils is special.

They requested a piece with my Filo character reading some weird demonic book to a creature designed according to my interpretation of them. The entire concept is based on a dream they had a while back.

This is probably the most pleased I've been with a piece for some time, and especially a commission piece. Working through this pushed me in a fresh direction with my art, and one I feel I desperately needed.

I am fixated on unconventional windows.

Critique always welcome and encouraged.

Its real good to see this one again all fancied up 'n done~ I can really see that you enjoyed this one and actually all of the batch you popped up today has had the same, real polished, look and a fun feel to boot.

I really hope you find a chance in the future to do more of these full-painted sort of commissions!!!

Thanks, and I'm glad it shows! It was definitely refreshing to work on.

I am still a little cautious in taking on super-painty stuff like this as commissions yet. The Xelias one was the same sort of approach, but it was fairly straightforward due to being a portrait, and he gave me a lot of artistic liberties, as did SevenDevils for this one. I don't know if I've quite gotten the process to a point at which I could efficiently render really specific and rigid prompts. :x Maybe I could just open for cheaper "artistic liberty" things in this style in the interim, because it is definitely fun!

That's pretty much the easiest and bestest way to do it!

For me the cheapest option is the one where i get like 90% of the control which works for people who just want art and are tempted by that bargain price. If they want 100% control which from some folks is equivalent to them standing in the room behind me the whole time they can... but that much sharper price makes it a spooky option!

like an uncle reading his youngest nephew a new bed time story when the parents are out of the old creaking house
