Love Knows No Gender

IT'S BACKGROUND SIZED!

Okay so I'm probably going to get some lash back for this, but before you go off your rocker hear me out.

I don't normally ship ponies, I prefer my ponies to be sex free symbols of cuteness and friendship, however the show DOES establish love and I'm good with love. Now the thing about love is that it's very flexible, and it's different from person to person. Everyone feels love, and some people feel it based on different boundaries.

I think it would not only be amazing, but fitting, if MLP:FiM established a character as gay. First of all a cartoon hasn't outright done it yet, and it's really time they start to. Being gay is normal, but for some kids (like myself when I was young) they feel abnormal, even broken, because no one tells them any different. Isn't it about time we stop shunning these kids and instead let them know it's okay to be who they are? It takes a lot of kids many many years to decide to accept themselves, and some people never do at all. We could prevent that all by letting kids know young that no matter how they feel, no matter who they are, they will be loved and accepted.

As far as fitting goes, Equestria has established a world were love and acceptance are expected. It seems to me that in such a world a gay couple would also be loved and accepted. It's the perfect cartoon to show such a thing, and also maybe to learn a lesson about how it's okay to be who you are.

Why Big Mac? Because Big Mac is an established character, he's also a character who has not shown a preference. An established character would be better, a lot of people already love Big Mac and if it turned out that he was a gay character then a lot of people would have to realize that maybe hating a person based on their sexual preference is a bad thing.

Love knows no gender. It's time we realize that, it's time we accept it, it's time we love it.

Not hate in the comments please. Keep it civil.

Or it might make folks hate the show even more?

Being gay is not about loving, in the opinion of this gay at least. Some ex-friend of mine tried to get me to go to gay conversion therapy because I couldn't love girls. Meanwhile, we're hanging out with, and at least I'm having a great time with, some guys and girls, and no sex was involved at all. We can have a food fight while preparing Thanksgiving dinner, and it is just playful loving.

I have no idea what you just said, you made a point and then switched your point in the second half of your statement. It made no sense.

As far as "hating the show more" I suppose if you already hate the show then your opinion doesn't necessarily matter. Really I don't care what adults think, kids need to be told that being different, liking the same gender, happens sometimes and that's okay.

Being gay is not about loving. It is about who you desire to have sex with.

That is what I said, and I did not change my point in the second half. I gave an example of love.

          Okay, sorry I misunderstood.

Being gay is about who you choose to love. It's also about who you choose to have sex with, but being as this is a children's cartoon this probably isn't the appropriate place to express that (I mean on the show, not in the comments, I don't mind here.) If being gay to you is ONLY about having sex then... well I'm sorry for you.

Love have many different faces. You can love your family, you can love your friends, you can love your partner. If you are gay then you are normally only going to feel partner love for the same gender. If you can have partner love with any gender but you only want to have sex with men... well I'm sorry honey you aren't gay, just picky.

And that's all I will have to say on this subject. I think you are misinterpreting the message I am trying to send, and that's your choice and I can't change that. G'day :)

Sex does not equal love. Gay is a synonym for homosexual, not homophilia. Being gay is about who you desire sexually. Gays can love folks of the opposite sex, but have no sexual desire for them.
