Fire and Stone Remix by Skulldog

Fire and Stone Remix

Skulldog

Something I left to dry over this weekend at PAX, came home and scanned it.

I have a hard time throwing away old art that’s just bad, instead I’ve turned to remixing them so to speak. The base for this image was a watercolor painting I did back in 2001, now touched up with acrylics and charcoal.

Only regret, realizing I didn’t have any photos or scans of the original to show a before, AFTER I started laying on the heavy blacks.

Mixed media, watercolor, acrylics in white/black/gold, an some charcoal texturing.

It's a nice idea to rework old artworks. It's kind of a shame that you don't have any scans of the original. It would have been nice to see how much you have improved.

I plan to do more of these, and make sure beforehand I have scans of the originals. I SWEAR I had scanned this one in college, but turns out I had mistaken it for a similar painting I did later..doh.

I never throw anything out. At the very least I can use the stuff as scratch paper or place mats.

Only thing I ever toss is loose printer paper sketches too rough or smuged over time to save, everything sticks with me until it sells or gets reused in some manner.
