And once again, masquerading as a Thursday Prompt for 06/16/2022
Crossing Open Ground
An easy pace towards the encampment near the Splash Hills; slicing through many colored feather grass like a sail boat, easing around dormant kite bushes emitting creosote aromas. Banded, sky tints at the end of the day. Long Month, middle of the dry season. Bitter Arroyo with it's short lived ponds and channel dried to silt.
A distracting Skeeep chirp, from a fist sized Dactyl, who made a nearby nest in an abandoned Mii'servi burrow. Foot pads rolling against mounded, dried sand. Outside. With only the heavens as a roof.
Within, contemplating seasonal cycles, discernible weather patterns. Naming creatures and geological landmarks carved by capricious rainfall. A stray thought, like an unexpected encounter with an almost hidden waterhole. She had once asked, "What moves you?"
Duenner's muzzled lips once again murmur the answer given to Dawn so many years ago under Pampas prairie skies, "Something just like this..."
Two landscapes, one outside, one within. Interwoven.

I just love the colors in this one! Such a lovely story to go with it too!
