Perro and Stray Bullets.

A Thursday Prompt for September 2, 2021
By SiriusDF

Prompt word: Reaching

Along with a Youtube music video link:

It's 11:14 AM in Sant Adria, up the coast from Barcelona. I've been awake since 5AM, sitting within a pocket office rental booth with a desktop computer. Working like a...perro, sending a slew of emails and Skype calls to various music promoters, uploading samples of my client's music. Barcelona is the epicenter for the country's music industry. My clients are a band hoping to break into the local music scene. Their home name is Morat, but someone suggested they use the stage name Las Balas Perdidas (The Stray Bullets).

So far, I've received a multitude of return emails and messages. Recepients excited about the sample music. But when I tell the promoters about their origins, I get the classic 'Don't call us, we'll call you' response.

All because they're Borrowers. It's the 21st century and prejudices against the wee sized Borrowers should be a thing of the past. Unfortunately, many look upon the hand sized little people that we call Borrowers, with the same slanted views that were once painted upon the Roma in Spain.

It's not even Noon and already I'm reaching for the second bottle of beer. Trying to promote this tiny band has become, without being punnish, a huge undertaking.

But I'm optimistic that success will be within reach.

The desktop phone rang. Reaching for the handset, I cradled the receiver. A return call from Vixyyfox! A Fennec music aficionado with connections! She loved the sample music I sent her and informed me she knows a contact that would like to speak to them.

There's one hitch, the contact won't be in the city for two days. We need lodgings till then.

Then, fortune smile upon us! Vixyyfox offered free lodgings at her B&B inn. All those naysayers who said our goals were far-fetched, they can take a long walk off a short sea pier!

Ba Beep! Juan just left me a text message, he's decided to take Martin, Simon and a recent Borrower recruit for drumming, J Villamil, out to the local beach district to do some music performing.

Is it wise? came my text reply, The city isn't used to Borrowers.

Juan texted back, Villamil has three brothers who are also drummers, their Borrower compadres will watch out for them and erect tiny barricades.

Just then, I received an email from Vixyy. She knows they are Borrowers, but had this question. ¿Les gustan los perros? Tengo dos perros esquimales!

Being from a rural area, they're probably used to them.

It's 2pm, time for another beer. Hmm, I wonder how their street performance went?

I'll ask them when they get back.

If you can recall author Mary Norton's stories of Borrowers, here's a very short modern take on it.

And to be wicked, on this Thursday Prompt tale with a Micro theme. Not only must the reader translate a few words of Spanish, but watch a the last minute of a youtube link to a music video.
