Something a bit more colourful.
I had this piece of paper left from cutting a sheet into ACEO blanks, and after pondering a while whether I should make two cards out of it or not - a small piece would've gone to waste - I decided to use it for something else instead. It ass nice to work with ballpoint pen after a while.
black ballpoint pen, Inktense pencils, white gel pen (+ a bit of metallic ones to give the background some shines)

Thank you! This wasn't actually done with coloured pencils, but with these http://www.pencils.co.uk/product.aspx?mid=718 but I guess I can offer some advice anyway :)
With most traditional media I usually work with 'layers', filling the whole area first with a thin cover of colour, and intensifying it and blending different colours as I add more layers, getting more detailed toward the end. Eg in this picture I used about 4 or 5 layers like that.
I hope this makes sense, and sorry for the late reply! I meant to answer days ago.

I'm still trying to learn how to use colored pencils effectively. This piece is absolutely stunning! Do you have any suggestions for getting great effects like this? :) Thanks
