Carnivorous Plantid Pod Example /Species Description

Sigil

Carnivorous Plantids are the species that Chloe and Eddie come from (I didn't enjoy saying TAILMOUTH), and I figured it was time to make them their own little description!

The picture is an example of what the carnivorous plantid species hatches from c: A pod! They hatch as fully formed adults, there is no youngster stage. If you were to cut one open early, it would die. They have all the information they need to survive. They are pretty low on the intelligence scale, and are better at being cute/attractive than smart.

They're twins, so they hatched out of separate pods, but they looked the same! The color of the pod shows the gender.

Gender is purely aesthetic, as every plantid can both fertilize and be fertilized/have offspring. Females and their pods are very bright, males are pretty bland, and anything in between is a mix of both. The sex organs of the species AND either mouth may be used to transmit DNA. That's why they do a lot of fooling around/making out, though Chloe and Eddie have the same DNA, so they can't reproduce.

The pods are "birthed" from the tail mouth, which is also how they eat. They can only ingest liquids through the mouth on their face. So yes, this whole species is pred. In order to sustain themselves for a long time, they have to consume a larger critter at least half their size. They will eat each other if they have to, but would rather turn to carrion or cooked meat before that. They throw up the waste through their tails, like an owl pellet/hairball.

They hunt socially, looking innocent and kind until they can seduce or trick their aggressors. All of their sap/liquids are a mild sedative which also instills positive feelings in the prey, euphoria and the like. The taste is sweet and fairly sticky, like agave nectar.
