Kodai may not enjoy being called the Extra Soft Soldier, or the attention that the name garners, but his love for a good meal doesn't really help his cause. He insists that he's a growing boy and that he needs the extra calories, but A) he's practically reached physical maturity by this point, and B) extra calories don't necessarily facilitate one's physical growth. The excuse of being an alien and thus requiring a larger caloric intake also doesn't work since, if that were the case, then he shouldn't be struggling with excess weight at all.

So with all that said, the logical conclusion is that Kodai simply loves to eat. And boy does he ever! A typical meal for the guy usually consists of three or four entrees, two sides, a large drink and more than a few desserts if he's lucky to sneak an extra slice of cake or pie. Naturally, his chubby physique is the end result.

And now you understand why I said he could skip a few meals every now and again...
