While I was working on Thunder, I made a few static props and I felt I should show off one of them and explain the history surrounding this character since it doesn't really spoil anything major in the show.
This is Magnus the jinmenken, also known as "the last jinmenken" at the time as his death marked the end of his species, at least until the day they came back from extinction. He looked very different from his modern relatives and was the last of three specimens to die off, infamously being hunted down and killed to show everyone what jinmenkens looked like at that time which has been a day marked in infamy in Nammani history. Jinmenkens were treated very badly by a society with broken beauty standards and so they were never really given rights, animal or otherwise. Magnus was poorly taxidermized with visible scarring that the seamstress failed to cover up and his plaque sugarcoated his story and intentionally left out a lot of important details which locals took to the extreme, spreading myths about the restless soul of Magnus roaming the earth in misery, seeking out the village and its people who took care of him since he was a pup. Not helping was the fact that he wore a permanent sad expression left behind when he was stuffed, almost like he didn't want to be there.
He once resided in the Amber Lake Museum which struggled to remain open passed 50 years due to lack of funding, leading to its closure. He ended up being abandoned with his exhibit in a state of disrepair and the vial containing melted snow with a sample of his blood went missing, possibly being stolen for the sake of bragging rights or collected in an attempt to someday clone him. He would eventually be found and moved to Kronstead where he was fixed up and the plaque in front of his exhibit tells the truth about his story. He had his wounds patched, his eyes switched out with ones that look more convincing, and his face altered to depict a more relaxed expression as shown on the right, giving the impression that he finally found peace with a museum that treated him better than he was during his time alive, laying the rumors to rest.
I decided to show him off without his plaque, glass casing, or stand (le funy Jo-jo reference) and more information on him and his kind will come later once the site is finished.
