I was at a show of a certain noise-rock band, where the cable started to go out during a solo, and the effect was indeed pretty cool, though the guitarist was quite dismayed. Most of all, I think it would just be pretty difficult to control the result.

I remember reading an article about the development of concert sound systems, largely tracing the impact of the Grateful Dead and their huge custom sound rig on such. It talked about the struggles bands faced with feedback and such due to the conditions back in the day, which made me imagine being in a group whose modus operandi as an improvising unit would be to feel out the performance space and how to manipulate the artifacts of feedback and resonance in their performance as they progressed

I feel like there's got to be someone who would deliberately use the shittiest cables to add unpredictable noise to their performance. Probably someone with a lot of effects pedals since static crackling on its own isn't that exciting a note to incorporate
