The cat, what does it see beyond the borders?

Just a still life I did. Lately, I've been scketching cats a lot as a warm up. Decided to turn this into a full image.

Art wise, I'm conflicted. I like clean, strong lines, but I also like the effect of cross hatching. Hmm.
