King Vulture in the Wings at the St. Louis Zoo

Possibly the most interesting looking of the New World Vulture Species, the King Vulture. These guys are native to South America so it is very unlikely you will see one in the wild in North America. The way I descibe the look of one of these is it is a cross between a DoDo and a Turkey Vulture but they looks real pretty though.

The wire you see in the Foreground is piano wire which is a design at the St. Louis Zoo to allow you to hear the birds make their calls. The St. Louis Zoo has some of the best Aviaries around and is a great place to visit.
