Fascinating self-portrait....love the faint hint of blue-grey in the midtones! This has an interesting texture that reminds me of a statue carved from porous wet clay or styrofoam.
It's always neat seeing artists experiment with old fashioned traditional media....(chalk pastels aren't easy to do well, either)

Ah, thank you! Hmm, and that is an interesting association! Here's some more styrofoam texture as an added bonus.
And traditional media will always reign supreme as far as I'm concerned, so I do try to keep sharp in that area, though it is always tempting to reach for the digital medias out of convenience.

I'd think it's allowed, maybe not in great numbers, but I'm not 100% accustom to the rules here.
I say that's pretty dang good for Chalk Pastel, he looks very Expressive.
