Found a sketch from a couple months back, intended, but discarded (because of the small format and paper quality), for my mothers birthday.

Still think its kinda nice.

I agree, I love the rawness of it.

Thank you! =3 Indeed, its much the same reason I like it. It was delightfully liberated of focus on outlines, and most of the shapes are loosely approximated beforehand, with many lines deliberately moving through the objects. Great fun to make!

    A very well done sketch.

If there's a thing I may suggest - drawing more distant objects a bit brighter (or darker if the foreground is bright) helps to clarify the depth of a picture. You've done it with the hills, but right now all trees are similar if it comes to their intensity and contrast. This way it may be a little bit difficult to tell, if the tree on the right side is farther away, or it's just a small one - growing under the branches of larger, central one.

Nevertheless, I like it very much. It keeps nice balance between being raw and detailed, it's not overworked, fells "fresh"... aaand it's generally nice to look at ;).

[Sorry, my English is not as good as I wish it'd be, especially when it comes to artistic terms and issues.]

This is really valuable feedback, thank you! And that tree has really annoyed me. I think it was intended to be in a mid-distance between the near and the far tree. I struggled a bit with the texture of the trees here, foliage is a right nightmare, to detail it to recognition, without drawing every single leaf.. Less is certainly more. And well, just that bit got somewhat overworked, but fortunately I was able to cut myself off and leave it be before disaster struck. Distance fading is certainly something I need to work on.

And thank you =) Apart from that damned tree, I'm happy with the atmosphere and the composition. Its one of those rare and satisfying moments where things fall into place with little toil and time.

And dont worry about the terms and language, I'm not where I want to be either, and most of the artistic terms I use I pull out of a hat, hoping people will get my associations to them and place them in the right context. :P
