Atrox Celo Crepidulum by SalvoSniper

Atrox Celo Crepidulum

SalvoSniper

There is something in the atmosphere...

After your documents had been gathered, placed sloppily inside a manila folder stained with what you hoped was coffee, the only thing needed was to escape. To the surface, no doubt, to spread the word of what you've found; its the only thing you can think to do with the staggering information this soulless facility has unwillingly submitted to you. You'll be a hero. You'll change the world. When you emerge from the Greenland Facility's barren hallways it'll all be worth it; everything you've gone through to get down here from the freezing tundra above.
The abrasive darkness of the hall you've just stepped foot into was liable to force your body to the ground in harsh submission in that moment. Suddenly you're mind is compelled to abort your entire quest, drop the folder and burn the documents inside with the small brown lighter you picked up an hour ago from what you thought was a trash can. Crippling discouragement seemed to overtake your mind in less than a few seconds, sending a shroud of doubt and guilt over what at one point was confidence and the will to succeed. Nothing could have changed that, you swore to yourself back then. You swore..
Mustering the effort through sheer force of will to lift your head to observe your surroundings, the only thing that had changed from when you had last been in this cold hallway was a shadow. At first you thought it may have been just another piece of overturned furniture, a fossils of when the building was full of life and commerce.
You felt the stone tiled floor pulling you back with a horrible force the moment your weary eyes locked with that of the animal who stood at the turn of the hallway, only a mere 50 feet away.
In that moment you knew it was over.
This was where your journey ended.

No amount of confidence, drive or encouragement could have overcame the dark, looming wall this being seemed to represent; you might have had better luck scaling mount Everest while wielding a sewing needle. As you found out so harshly, its sheer presence was enough to send the most driven attacker to his knees.
The beasts form was difficult to discern, but it seemed to shift between four and two legs in regards to the manner in which it held itself; but two pointed ears that twitched in alert to your presence suggested its composition might have been canid in nature; the security staff did keep dogs, after all. You remembered.
Not that it mattered now.
Any living thing left in this place, after what happened, seemed to be under the influence of the phenomenon that had purged its walls of all life; something you had hoped to expose after stumbling upon it.
That wasn't happening anymore.

Hey guys! So this is the re-upload of Crepidulum. I had to take down the first one because I realized a bunch of shit wasnt finished after the fact, so here he is in his full infected glory.

Crepidulum is not a zombie dog. Or a werewolf. He's a former guard dog owned by the security of the Greenland Facility in the universe of the Penumbra series. What happened to him, you ask? Well, when the tuurngait was discovered, Crepidulum became one with it, and joined the ranks of what the workers called "The Infected".
Bestowed with ability and form that would allow him to fufill his duty within the collect of the tuurngait, he seeks nothing but to protect and defend the tuurngait against those who should choose to disturb its resting place.
TL:DR = He's my Penumbra OC.

The goal of this mask was to portray the character in his proper light; a dead-faced soulless espression with one ear hanging low to signify its listlessness as a living creature (Since he's not technically dead), and the other perked upright in attention with evidence of tuurngait alteration (mutation). Suggesting that is the only driving force behind his life.
I suppose I'd compare it to Cordyceps.
