An experimental species I've created. The name means "swift running dogs" which is no mistake! Combining features of canids and those ever enthralling dromaeosaurs ("raptors"), these pack hunters are fast, agile, and powerful. Their long, stiff tail is flexible at the base and tipped with a fan of feathers which they use for balance and maneuvering while running. Their toes are hoof-like, allowing for increased traction while running and climbing. However, the inner toe features a long, sharp claw that aides in gripping prey along with their two elongate teeth. Once one of these dogs manages to latch on good luck getting them to let go.

Their pack structure allows them to take down prey many times their size, but it also provides a rich social life for these dogs. The unique, fleshy shield on their faces not only acts as a wind-breaker for their eyes while running, but can be flushed with or drained of color in order to signal moods. Heightened periods of excitement tend to lead to a brighter shield, while sickness or sadness often lead to a dull shield. They also communicate with their feathers and fur. This is done in much the same manner as a wolf or bird. Feathers and hair upward can indicate excitement or anger, with the ear position often determining which is which.

The example dog up there is Tirrhopi as a Dromeus Dog (I couldn't resist).

I was selling these guys over at WolfHome. I was curious about how well they would do. People seemed to like them! They are NOT an open species.
