Laura: A Tale of Two Growth Spurts by Saatchi

On the outskirts of the Shebar province, there is a forest, nothing particularly noteworthy about that. It’s full of trees, wild animals roam within and there are many different types of plants that grow there, some which of would be considered new discoveries. But the reason that this forest was of particular note, was that the animals and plants that did grow within, all grew to enormous sizes. The trees themselves rivalled skyscrapers in terms of their size, and the plants and animals would make anyone who entered the forest feel like they had shrunk down to the size of the common insect. So with this information readily available to the public, and many of them choosing to stay well away from the forest; one would expect that this would be the last place for a business excursion. But for one member of the Satko LTD, Research and Development team this forest was her current destination on a trip that was strictly business.

Laura was the name of this team member, an otter from pretty low down in the R&D labs, so far down the chain of command that you’d be forgiven for thinking a secretary ranked higher than her. She was constantly overlooked by her peers, and being five feet tall didn’t alleviate those problems either. She spent her days scurrying through the sea of legs and lower torsos of her colleagues, ferrying the post and other important documentation to the relevant people. It was the same thing day in, and day out with very little change, so it was easy to imagine her surprise when the two owners of the company, summoned her to their joint office to inform her that she would be going on this trip. Apparently new research had discovered the reason why the forest, and the animals and plants within grew to such dizzying heights. They informed her that it was a body of water, located at the very heart of the forest, and they wanted Laura to go out and bring back a sample for tests.

Laura worked for a company that claimed to specialise in research into reversing the biological injustices that nature had brought upon people. It had developed a simple injection to instantly eradicate acne, and had even managed to find a way to boost failing eyesight back to a near perfect state. But of course that was only a cover, though oddly enough the cover story wasn’t too far away from the truth. The reality was that everyone at Satko was committed to rebelling against unfortunate instances of nature, but the specific instances they secretly worked on wouldn’t fit well with the eyes of the public. Satko’s main objective was to harness the process of growth and use it in conjunction with the companies stance on fighting nature. They worked on ways of making short people tall, and tall people even taller, they developed ways to increase the size of the female breast and eradicate the male variant. Most recently they tackled the age of adage that males with big feet, often had a fairly lengthy penis as well. Now, thanks to the company such a thing could always be true. These projects were done out of the way of the public, but it often didn’t stop the public from finding out about them.

Occasionally one of the tests that was scheduled for that day went wrong, or the scientists got a little carried away and one way or another the subject was revealed to the public. The most recent case of such a thing was when a young fox kit who was being cared for by one of the bosses found her way down to the underground testing area, right in the middle of start height test. Due to the way the experiments are carried out, safety dictates that no-one is allowed to be present in the testing area, during a test, which is common sense really. However this meant that the only way to see what was going on during the experiment was to watch it on the video screens in the main control room. Now, ordinarily the young fox kit would have been caught out by the fact that she was the second person to enter the testing area, but on this day the universe had conspired in her favour, and the original subject had taken ill and was unable to make it. So from the scientist’s point of view, everything looked normal and the test ran ahead as normal. So a young, female, fox kit was told to drink a beaker filled to the brim with a chemical concoction designed to increase the height of a 35 year old, adult, male tiger by two feet. So as one can imagine the young girl got a much more potent dosage than she normally would have if the scientists had known that she wasn’t their original test subject. So instead of the desired effect of having the subject grow two feet taller, she instead ended up growing 450 feet taller, meaning that she outgrew the underground testing facility and pretty much decimated the one set of offices belonging to the company. Thankfully her grown destroyed a lot of the incriminating evidence that their had ever been an underground research facility, and when the journalists began to poke around, the company got off scot-free.

Laura had envied that fox kit so much since she the moment she first heard about that incident. Standing at only five feet tall was a nightmare, and she often found herself cursing her otter biology, even though standing at such a height qualified her as a giant in most otter circles. But in the office circles? She was more like a midget. Especially when she was put up against co-workers like Linda, the ten foot tall lynx, or Barry the eight foot tall stallion. Nobody on her floor stood an inch less than 6’2, and Laura yearned to join them. Even as she stood at the mouth of the jungle, she knew that whatever ever work she did here would probably be overshadowed by the discoveries that would be made from her samples. Still, she hoped that she could at least have some attention, even if it was just her fifteen minutes of fame. She took a deep breath, hoisted her red, leather backpack over the coffee coloured fur and took her first steps into the dense flora that decorated the forest entrance.

The humidity of the forest hit Laura hard when she ventured far enough away from the entrance. The dense leaves and grass of the forest floor prevented any form of draft or breeze from rushing in to cool her off. She was only a few steps in, but already she was beginning to sweat like a lobster at a fancy restaurant. It baffled her as to how such a thing was possible, the sun could barely be seen through the thick canopies of the enormous trees, and yet it’s heat was finding its way down to ground level. It was a wonder the plants managed to get the required sunlight in such circumstances, and yet here they were. The plants themselves were breathtaking, bright colourful petals with vibrant green stems that seemed to stand out most amongst the rubbery green of the grass and weeds. An air of uncomfortableness washed over Laura as drank in the fantastic sights; she couldn’t but wonder about what the animals would be like, if the plants had reached the size of small trees. She approached a nearby tree, taking refuge by the white trunk, sliding down it until she was sitting on the damp soil. She slung the backpack off her shoulders and placed it in on the ground, carefully pulling the zips apart with her fingers. She reached into the backpack and pulled out a bottle of water, already unscrewing the top before she’d even taken it past the teeth of the zip. She needed some form of refreshment, before she was cooked to perfection in her own fur. Her clothes were starting to stick to her body, her red and white striped top was matted with faint patches of sweat, and her jean shorts were becoming a little restrictive. She had an idea to alleviate at least some of her problems. She put down the bottle and pulled her top up and over her shoulders, casting it to the floor. She then unbuttoned her shorts and struggled to pull them down her slender legs. They came off in the end, but not without making her wince more than once. She felt a cool rush of air spread over her body as she sat there in nothing but a bra and panties. She packed her clothes into her backpack and picked the bottle back up. She pulled the clammy strands of her dark brown hair off her face, and drank deep from the bottle. She tilted her head back and welcomed the refreshingly cool rush of water that greeted her. However as she tilted her head back, she came to realise just what she was taking refuge under.

The so called ‘white tree’ trunk that she had sat down against wasn’t actually a tree at all, but it turned out to be the stalk of a mushroom, and if there was one moment that made Laura realise just how small she was, it was this very moment. She stared up at the domed cap of the mushroom, and how much is blocked out the light, like an enormous parasol or umbrella. She marvelled at it, rising up to her full height and finding that no matter how close she got the mushroom only seemed to grow in size. This only made Laura want to locate the source of this strange phenomenon even more, so she could bottle it and take it back home. She couldn’t take her eyes off the enormous fungus, even as the ground beneath her webbed feet began to shudder and shake. She entranced by the sheer marvel of this new world around her, similar to how a child would be fascinated by the world’s largest sugary treat. The shaking and shuddering beneath her feet got stronger and much more violent. Her head swivelled around, looking for the source of the tremors, but try as she might looking for something like that at her size was practically impossible. The world around her was completely obscured by leaves and plant stems. She pressed herself up against the stalk of the using it for cover, even though she knew that they were pretty feeble. Her heart beat hard in her chest, wondering just what she was going to be met with.

The answer was soon revealed to her within seconds of her trying to guess what she was about to encounter. It was a cute white rabbit, hopping carefree through the forest, not giving a damn about any tiny otter girls that might be in its path. The first glimpse that Laura received of the creature was the sight of its fluffy white tail twitching behind it and it lumbered over the mushroom. Laura gasped in surprise, more so at the fact that she had actually owned a bunny at one point in her life, and it had never gotten this big. The bunny stood on its hind legs and glanced around, making Laura let out a soft ‘awww’ as she caught sight of its tiny little nose, twitching in a similar way to its tail. She took a step closer to the bunny, still in awe of it’s sheer size, yet marvelling at how it doesn’t even appear to be aware of how much bigger it is than those things outside of the forest. She wished she had brought her camera with her, this would certainly make for an entertaining christmas card. She reached out to actually touch the rabbit, just to make sure she wasn’t hallucinating as a result of the intense heat. But as her fingers got within mere nanometres of touching the tower lagomorph, she was distracted by yet more rumbling. Tens upon tens of other bunnies, ranging from male to female and even a mix of adults and kits came leaping from the undergrowth, racing past the first rabbit and Laura.

The otter girl was frightened for her life as the thunderous sound of many enormous paws came charging past her, some coming within inches of taking her head clean off wit those sharp claws. She crouched down low, and put her hands over her head making herself even smaller than she already was. She whimpered as she caught sight of the flurry of white paws crashing down either side of her. She was going through the motions right now, what had once been feelings of amazement were now feelings of fear for her life. She sat there, unsure of how much time had passed before the almighty thumping of the rabbits’ paws died down to nothing. Carefully she raised her head up to survey the surrounding environment for any immediate dangers. The rabbits had all but cleared off, but there was no sign of what had caused them to run out on her like that, but she knew that there was no way she was hanging around to find out either. She got to her feet, got her bearings as best she could, and headed deeper into the forest.

She walked for what seemed like an age, only stopping to take a drink from her rapidly depleting water supply and check her map. The latter was least useful because most of the people who had gone into the forest with the intention of mapping out the area, had either never made it out, or barely documented it. Thankfully the people that had gone in and found the lake that she was after, had made it back out and detailed the best route to get there. The only problem with such a thing was that if she strayed off the path too much, she would probably never find her way back to it, especially in this environment. Still undeterred by these thoughts, she soldiered on, her eyes flitting between the map and the flora around her. The thickness of the shrubbery was now starting to wane a little, making it much easier to see in front of her, but all leading her to believe that she was in fact coming up on her destination. The ground beneath her feet was starting to become much more soggy as well, which either meant she was approaching the edge of a rain cloud, or the lake was just a little further. She started to speed up, brushing the flower and plants out of the way with a newfound enthusiasm. Glimpses of light randomly flashed across her eyes as she raced forward.

She brushed a final set of shrubs aside and was knocked backwards as she hit something hard, yet surprisingly furry. She pulled herself up and gave her head a shake and turned her attention onto what she had actually come into contact with. It looked like an enormous grey pillar, slightly bent outwards at some angles near the base. But then the pillar began to move, rising into the air and swinging around on a 180 degree rotation, followed by four other pillars of similar design. A dull snarling came from somewhere higher up, and already Laura was beginning to understand what she had bumped into. It was another creature that was indigenous to this type of location, the common wolf. She stood perfectly still as the wolf turned the full 180 degrees, showing off that muzzle as it snarled, those rows of pointed teeth dripping with drool. Laura was petrified at the sight of such an enormous beast, and it suddenly became clear as to what had probably happened to all those that had gotten lost in the forest before her. She peered through the legs of the great furry creature, and saw that she was standing at the edge of the very body of water she had set out to find. The sound of snarling got louder, and she knew she had only seconds to come up with a plan of action, or meet her end at the teeth of a carnivorous beast. Puddles of drool splashed down around her as the wolf tilted its head downwards, becoming increasingly aware of the tiny morsel that was at its feet. Laura couldn’t waste any more time, she had to make a decision and she had to make it now.

She willed her legs to life and summoned every last drop of courage that she possessed and charged forwards. She weaved her way under the wolf, just as the creature took a bite out of the dirt where she had been just moments earlier. It let out a dissatisfied grunt as it searched around for the tiny otter. Laura wasn’t stopping, she raced forwards narrowly avoiding the wolf’s legs as it swayed this way and that searching in vain for the tiny otter that was now scrambling towards its rear end. Laura could feel her heart beating in her chest like a hammer, thumping against her ribs with enough force to knock her off balance. Adrenaline surged through her body, giving her the necessary energy that she needed in order to keep her feet at this fleet pace. The edge of the water was closer now than it had ever been, she could almost reach out and touch it. She heard the wolf snap its jaws shut behind her, as it finally caught sight of her again. Laura’s feet started to bounce with each step, if it weren’t for the obvious life of death scenario, one would assume she was gearing up for the long jump. The wolf turned itself around but it wouldn’t be quick enough to actually snap up Laura for a meal. The poor otter girl felt she only had one chance to cement her escape, and she had no other option but to take it. She tensed her legs and sprung forward, leaping past the cusp of the grassy edge, and into the water.

The wolf gnashed and thrashed as it thrust its head into the water, trying desperately to bite the otter, but it was no use. The water was whipped up into a frenzy as the wolf moved his head around, causing waves and other currents of water to come crashing up and around its head. Laura was swept around the body of water like a tiny pebble down a series of rapids, breath was knocked from her lungs, with the water from the pool taking its place. She kept her eyes shut, not wanting to see the wolf’s face, for fear of what it might do to her. She couldn’t risk being paralysed by fear in a place like this, for such a thing would almost certainly mean death. She remained still, making no effort to move or try to escape, she waited for the water to calm itself, so that she could at least make for the surface. The wolf pulled its head out of the water in defeat, it howled once and then left the scene, possibly to return at a later time. Laura could sense that it had vacated the water from the moment that everything seemed to calm down. The water stopped being so violent and started to return to a more tranquil state. Seizing the opportunity, Laura swam in the direction she felt was up, moving her arms and legs in a butterfly stroke. She propelled herself upwards gagging for air but only being able to drink in more and more of the sacred water of the forest. Her muzzle was first to break through the water, her thin whiskers pinging droplets of water higher into the air.

She was still alive, that was a plus, and now she had a fresh lungful of air she could get her bearings. The situation was a pretty simple one, she was currently treading water in the one body of water that she had been sent to find. Her backpack and the items inside, including her clothes, were soaked through. She’d dropped her map sometime between hitting the wolf’s paw, and diving into the water to escape. Either way, she didn’t appear to be getting that back anytime soon. The water was even more refreshing than when she had taken off her clothes to cool off. The lack of direct sunlight meant that the water chilled out incredibly quickly, but the humidity kept it at a level that was cool yet pleasant. Laura basked in the feel of the water against her fur, but also felt a sense of dread setting in as she realised that in her efforts to avoid the wolf, she’d actually ended up swallowing some of the water. How would it affect her? Her purpose was to find a sample and bring it back for tests, not swallow a load of it and hope for the best. Oh she was in for it now...

She could feel it, something brewing in her stomach and spreading out among her limbs and extremities. Was this what the animals felt like too? Did they get the same feeling of warmth that she was getting. She continued to tread water keeping her head aloft with the rest of her body underneath the water’s surface, but for how long she couldn’t be sure. She held tightly to the straps of her backpack, although it was soaked by now she still needed it to get the samples from the water back to the lab. She felt those strange sensations amplify, the warmth from her stomach spreading past her fingers and toes, but at the same time her body went with it. She felt stretched, like some invisible force was pulling her upwards and outwards to compensate for the pleasure coming from within. Already within a few moments she felt the water lapping at her neck, when it should have been just under her chin. She was definitely rising, much faster than anyone back home would have predicted. It was believed that a constant exposure to the properties of the water was what had made everything so big, and yet here she was, growing exponentially after only a few gulps.

Her head rose higher and higher finally letting her see over the edge that she had jumped from. By ordinary standards she was around 7 feet in height now, whereas in relation to the forest and its inhabitant, she was only about half the size of the bunny she encountered earlier. Her webbed feet would probably have touched the bottom of the pool of water that she was in if this was an ordinary land. Still, she relished the chance to grow bigger, and even scooped up a little more water in her mouth just to speed the process along. Drinking more of the water had exactly the desired effect and her head rose up even more becoming more noticeable by the second. Her undergarments were starting to strain somewhat. Laura only had A cup breasts, but even her small bra was beginning to feel the burn as her body filled out. Even her panties struggled to keep up as the otter seemed to grow faster with each passing second. Tiny tears began to cut through the seams on either hip, with her brown fur starting to bleed through the cracks. She giggled to herself, oh if only her colleagues could see her now. She’d tower over them, with the exception of Linda, but as she reached the nine foot mark, she knew that even Linda would have to bow before her. She rapidly passed the 11 foot mark and now her breasts were level with the surface of the water, and she wasn’t certain but she did think she felt her long toes scraping across the dirt at the bottom of the pool.

She couldn’t contain her excitement, pretty soon she was going to be able to stand up in this body of water, whereas nearly an hour ago she probably would have drowned if she attempted to reach the bottom. She lowered her head down to water level, sending a little wave rippling out from her enormous frame, and took another gulp of water. She wanted to be big, bigger than the others, bigger than the forest itself. Her feet were hit by the growth spurt first, planting her soles on the dirt and pushing the rest of her up from there. She was finally rising out of the water, her breasts lifted themselves past the surface of the water, water drooling from her pink nipples. Her bra and panties were on their last legs now, they were all but shredded, her nipples poked from the tears in her bra, whilst her hip and crotch fur stuck out of the gaps in her panties. She rubbed her thighs together as she continued to shoot higher and higher. Her panties gave one last drawn out whine as they tore asunder, peeling off her enormous body and flaking away into the water. Her nethers were now on show for the feral creatures that roamed the forest, but she didn’t care, she couldn’t afford to care. At this size the eyes of everyone and everything around her were going to be solely fixed on her and she had to keep herself composed. But even as she surpassed the 17 foot mark, now starting to encroach of the territory of the trees, she felt that it wasn’t enough to be a giantess amongst giant animals and plants. She needed to bring this to the more popular areas, to the towns and cities, to the company where she worked. She would show her colleagues that she was worth noticing.

In a moment of raw adrenaline brought on by her steadily increasing height and her newfound thoughts of rebellion against her coworkers, she took hold of what remained of her bra. Then in one swift thrust of her arm, she tore it off, sending fibres of her last remaining bit of clothing into the water along with her panties. It felt exhilarating to be nude, like she was free, just like the animals in the forest. She glanced down at the water in which she stood, glancing at the fabrics of her clothing just drifting along on the undercurrents of the water. It was like watching her old life as a midget fading away, this was the new Laura, the new and bigger otter in town. But amongst all the fabric floating in the water, she noticed that her backpack had somehow gotten lost in the commotion and was now drifting out of sight. Without that she would lose the bottles with which to capture samples. And without samples she wouldn’t be able to extract the growth formula from the water, and without that she would never rise above her colleagues. She couldn’t allow it to get away from her, and so she lumbered after it.

Now given her current state of expansion, and the very nature of water getting something as small as a backpack when you’re already half the size of a forest tree was never going to be easy. Everytime she moved her foot, water rushed forward in waves, sending the backpack further and further out of her reach. She contemplated lunging for it, but she would be out of luck there too. At her current size, there would be no water left in the pool if she was to leap for the backpack, and there was no guarantee she would even catch it. She continued to wade, or rather waddle through the water, still getting bigger, which made the backpack even harder to see. She was now almost as tall as the trees around her, so she paused a moment just to think of a solution. She could just make out the backpack floating back and forth as the waves pushed and pulled it back. It didn’t take long for her to think of a way to use her size in a manner that was most beneficial to her. It was stupidly simple really, especially at her current size. All she had to do was bend over and pluck the backpack from the water, she didn’t even have to move, her entire torso stretched out across the required distance. So she put her plan into action and as she expected, she successfully picked up the backpack, clenching it gently between her teeth. She would have to find a better place to hide it, but for now she would have to wait.

Finally her head reached past the canopies of the trees, and she could actually see the world outside of the jungle once more. It was a beautiful sight, towering over everything, realising that nothing could stand in your way, no matter how much it tried to. She stood there, just drinking it all in, letting the feeling of immense power settle in. She wished this would last forever, but for now that dream would have to wait. Before she had left, she had been given one last piece of information, and that was whether or not the water’s effects were temporary or permanent. Some research suggest that it was permanent provided so much was drunk, but the overwhelming majority showed their evidence that it was temporary to be more reliable. She was of course going to be the deciding factor, whether the other had wanted that or not. She took one last look at the horizon and sat herself down in the water, pondering her next move. She was going to get this water to the city, sure enough, and when she did she was going to show that city a time it’d never forget.

Laura: A Tale of Two Growth Spurts

Saatchi

First off, yes I know that title indicates two and the story only has one. The second is coming soon.

My first story with my new character, Laura. Quite pleased with how it came out and looking forward to getting the next part done as soon as possible.
