So, a little history...

Back in February, I got myself a new laptop... spent about $1,400 on it. I had been trying to get a new laptop to replace my old Windows 7 machine. I tried to get a model from Dell, but made a mistake and got a somewhat underpowered model (I wanted to do a little gaming with the laptop as well as just art), so I sold it off to family and bought this $1,400 model from ASUS.

So, using it for a while, I was experiencing random freeze-ups. I don't know why... and after a while (the machine froze working on a pic, ruining about half an hour of work), I decided to get it looked at from a local tech we use on occasion. After trying a few things, we realized that this was a hardware issue, if not the hard drive, then something deeper, like the motherboard.

So began the... "fun" with trying to repair the laptop. Going back and forth between the live support and the repair center for... not joking... over a month. The "repairs" involved replacing the hard drive, getting it shipped back... and it froze again. After the third time of having to drive the hour over to the repair center, I FINALLY got the ability to replace the machine...

...which was two weeks ago... and now it's finally shipping to me, hopefully will be here in a day or so.

Good lord.

So, this is a pic of Pixel showing some of my frustrations on the whole event.

For the record, that old Windows 7 machine? It may be old and underpowered... but it works very well. Never had an issue with it. In fact, all the art I've uploaded the past 6 or so weeks has been done on this old machine. Yep, currently using it to upload the pic too. Glad I hung onto it as a backup =p
