I’m taking a break from posting my older set of commissions to share something I bought to honour a late friend of mine, Aurida, or Geistault on Fur Affinity. The following is taken from the Fur Affinity version of this post.

I first met Aurida in a Discord server in early 2022. I’ll admit I don’t have many “friends” within the furry community, but he was one of the nicest people I’ve had the opportunity to talk to. Unlike some of the people I’ve encountered in the past, I felt like I could talk to him without it feeling too awkward, and he seemed to value and appreciate me for who I am instead of only really caring about the things I liked. We also bought a commission together (you can see it here), and I was planning to get another commission with him sometime in the future.

Aurida committed suicide in December 2022, and I actually talked to him shortly before it happened. There’s a part of me that feels guilty about this, like I somehow should have known about it and made an effort to stop it, but there isn’t much point torturing myself over what I could have done in the past, and I thought it would only make sense to do something to honour him. I think it’s important to value and celebrate those who’ve made a positive impact in our lives, and while I’ve often been around people who focus on the absolute worst in the world and humanity, I’d much rather cherish the positives, even if they seem insignificant or come to an end much sooner than expected.

Aurida, thank you for being such a wonderful person.
