Jackrabbit Exp. by Rowkey

Jackrabbit Exp.

Experiment on some cardstock from the sales bin- totally useless for media with the slightest hint of moisture, but takes colored pencil very well! Hares seem to be my go-to experiment animal due to those bold shapes all over the place, and those eyes!

MEDIA: colored pencil and hints of gel pen on brown cardstock

This makes me think of Watership Down with the colors and expression.

Thank you! I'd love to try illustrating some Watership Down chapters, perhaps in this style.

You really should! As a suggestion you should start with Bigwig!

I also was thinking the style reminded me a lot of the Watership Down film (which I just watched last week). That is a compliment! You definitely have a flare all your own, regardless!

Thanks so much! :D LOVE that movie...in particular I've always been struck by the expressiveness of the characters' eyes.

Oh yes agreed! Have you seen Plague Dogs also?

I have seen (and read!) Plague Dogs, but it was quite a long time ago! Very few animated movies have shocked me, but that one sure did.

Yeah - and the ending is so much rougher than the book.

    Such beautiful work!
