Furry Fandom is just that, a fandom. And yes some people have a fetish for it, just like with anime, and video games. In the end all it involves is people getting together and sharing a common interest, in this case their appreciation of stories involving anthropomorphic characters whether it be from stories like Watership Down, Redwall, Pride of Baghdad, or Mouse Guard. At the end of the day we still go to our jobs, we hardly keep any secrets from our loved ones. And the more personal ones well, we don't need to know everything our parents did as kids do we?
Since discovering this social group I've had a successful career as an insurance salesman, moved out of my parents home during my early twenties, and currently work at a call center after moving in with my fiance out of my home state. I intend to start my own entertainment business online and am already laying down the ground works for it. And I have not just my family and my previous employers to thank, but the friends and people I've met, including my fiance, through online chats, forums, and conventions when it comes to the more successful position I am in right now. Because of their support I was able to be accepting of myself, open to new ideas and given a much clearer and broader insight on life.
