Her beloved concubine can be found, either tending the plants or else basking in the sunshine. He's not a friendly creature, but he does keep smiles in reserve for those he finds worthy.

A commission for the lovely Reina, who wanted a full body of her cute OC Alraune on a simple background. I continuously butchered the spelling of his name throughout this comm, and am still uncertain I'm spelling it right now :'D. This was a little delayed in finishing, as my Cintiq took a fall during the process (the stand is traaaash) and I had to order a replacement cord. I actually ordered a Huion tablet and decided I like that better than the Cintiq (for one thing, the stand is screwed on and hella stable), so my previous tablet is my backup now. Reina actually is the one who found the replacement cord listing for me <3 she's really sweet and I'm lucky to know her. This was a super fun picture to work on: she gave me a loose prompt and told me to go wild beyond that. I'm really proud of the result, and learned a lot in the process of painting the foliage.

Technically this was supposed to be a cel-shaded piece, but as I'm not currently satisfied with my celshading I ended up doing a mix of soft and hard shadows. I'll get there! I'm also trying to develop a stronger style for painted works.
