Just had an idea last night. My character Jed.
You can make the backstory for now.

The base character wasn't hard but I experimented with the background.
I originally wanted a heavily forested background but the colors looked wrong, just couldn't get it to mesh.
So I removed some trees and made this far out view of a valley with some mountains... and then it started to take shape.
I hue shifted the colors, to make it less green/blue like we expect nature to be and go for something more 'alien' (in this case, pink/gold) From there I basically got the idea, but decided I need more interesting mountains, so I drew the surreal curled mountains here.
After that, it was really just a couple hours of painting and doing details, and making sure he looks overgrown and rusty.
The background is lovely to me. It's when I draw the most unexpected colors and land formations I find something that resonates with me most. Earth feels like this, even if it doesn't look it.
