The Basics: Impfestations are the result of parasitic demons called Imps, which attach themselves to the host's body and slowly transform it. The transformation is invisible to the naked eye, though the host may catch glimpses of it in reflective surfaces, or if they glance down at themselves in the right light. The host may find themselves acting strangely or have gaps in their memory where they have no recollection of what they did for long stretches of time.

Eventually the Imp will guide the host to a secluded place were it enters a chrysalis stage. The host falls unconscious and succumbs completely to the infestation. At the end of the chrysalis stage, which can last anywhere from a day to several months, the transformation manifests fully and the newly formed demon emerges into the world. Emergent Demons have strange and unique forms, which bear little resemblance to the original host. The mind of the host is still present when the demon emerges, though they is now unable to control the body at all. They can communicate with the Emergent Demon's mind but otherwise they are a mere passenger in their former body.

Special Notes About These Adopts: Both of these adopts are pre-chrysalis, though they are getting very close to completing the change. If you adopt them, feel free to design their pre-infestation form! I have not yet decided if owners are free to design the Emergent Demon forms or not, so for the moment please refrain from doing so.
